Manchester City defeats Liverpool to claim EFL 2022 Quater Final Spot

Manchester City beat rivals, Liverpool, in a breath-taking League Cup tie on Thursday night after Nathan Aké scored a 58th-minute winner to send Pep Guardiola’s side through to the quarterfinals.

Erling Haaland scored the game’s first goal in the 10th minute after a frantic start, and Fabio Carvalho equalised midway through the first half. Liverpool nearly took the lead despite having the majority of the play, but Darwin Nunez‘s shot missed the mark.

Early in the second half, Riyad Mahrez gave City the lead back, but Liverpool’s second equaliser of the game, scored by Mohamed Salah, hushed the Eitihad Stadium. Nevertheless, Aké‘s headed goal put an end to Liverpool’s chances of defending the League Cup.
